Discover the Blacksmith Shop

Discover Aabnaabin Camp

Aabnaabin Camp represents a Michi Saagiig Anishnaabeg (Mississauga Anishnaabeg) hunting or ricing camp from the mid-1820s and is a parternship project with Hiawatha First Nation and Curve Lake First Nation. Discover the Carpenter Shop

The Hastie Carpenter Shop is an accurate reconstruction (using traditional hand-powered, woodworking techniques) of a building located in the Hamlet of Lang in the 1880s that served two generations of carpenters. Discover the School House

The South Lake School House was built in 1886 in South Lake Settlement in Belmont Township, north of Havelock. All eight grades were taught in the single room with slates, a few books, a blackboard, an abacus, and a map as the only resources.  Hear the bell ring signalling the start of classes. Discover the Print Shop

The Register Print Shop building at Lang Pioneer Village Museum was built in the 1840s, originally serving as a school in South Monaghan Township. Discover the Milburn House

The Milburn House, built in 1834, has been restored to display the comforts and luxuries available by the 1870s as manufactured goods became affordable and available in this area. Listen to the creak of the door opening to bake in the woodstove, and the steady drum of the needle moving up and down on an antique sewing machine. Click here to learn more: Milburn House

Discover the Grist Mill

Thomas Short constructed the Lang Grist Mill in 1846, but a devastating fire in 1896 left only charred walls. The mill was rebuilt following the fire and continued operating until 1956. Discover the Keene Hotel

The Keene Hotel is representative of a 14-room country inn of the 1870s. Rooms ranged in price from 10¢ to 25¢ per night and included one meal as well as lodging for the traveller’s horse in the drive shed. Listen to the sound of tea being poured in the dining room. Discover the Tinsmith Shop

The Tinsmith Shop at Lang Pioneer Village Museum is a reconstruction of a typical shop from the 1880s. Tinware was desirable, as it was much lighter than iron, was inexpensive, and was durable. Discover the General Store

The Menie General Store at Lang Pioneer Village Museum was built in 1858 and has been restored to 1899. Almost everything could be purchased in this store, and the store also served as a post office, drug store, and meeting place. Discover the Fitzpatrick House

The Fitzpatrick House represents a settler’s second home and was built by Michael Fitzpatrick in 1848. This is a large, storey-and-a-half, squared-log house with a six-foot-wide stone fireplace used for both cooking and heating. Discover the Steam Engine

The 17-horsepower Sawyer-Massey traction steam engine was manufactured in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1921.  Listen to the whoosh of steam and the blast of the whistle as the steam engine tours the village on Father's Day during our annual Smoke & Steam Show.
