Corn Roast

Sunday, August 17 ~ 10 am - 4 pm

Join us for a good old-fashioned corn roast! Come celebrate the heart of the summer harvest season with, live music, wagon rides, and plenty of cooked corn.

*Please note: Due to the current heat warnings and fire bans, some demonstrations have had to change in order to keep staff and volunteers, as well as the site safe.

  • Peterborough Agricultural Society Homecraft Show in the PCAHB (August 15, 16 & 17)
  • Wagon rides
  • Fanning mill demonstrations
  • Traditional music by Glen Caradus
  • Natural dyeing demonstrations using native plants with a focus on gold and yellows
  • Rug hooking demonstrations by the Northumberland Rug Hookers
  • Demonstrations by the Kawartha Woodturners Guild and the Peterborough Artisan Centre Wood Turners
  • Flop mattress repairing and stuffing demonstrations
  • Harvest songs being played on the organ in the Glen Alda Church
  • Weaving demonstrations on the Jacquard loom
  • Kawartha Truth and Reconciliation quilt on display
  • Freshly popped kettle corn by Ben's Kettle Corn ($)
  • Sweets treats and refreshment at the Keene Hotel ($)
  • Corn craft at the Ayotte Cabin
  • Corn shelling demonstrations
  • Keene Lions Club Food Truck serving BBQ goods ($)- CASH only
  • Corn-on-the-cob eating contest
  • Old fashioned schoolyard games

  • Fresh Empire Cheese curd and bread for sale in the Cheese Factory ($)
  • Corn husk braiding demonstrations
  • Display by the Otonabee South-Monaghan Public Library

Admission: Adults- $17, Students & Seniors (60+) – $12, Youths 5 to 14 Years of Age – $9, Free for Children Under 5 Years of Age, Family Pass (includes 2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) – $45

Please note: Events run rain or shine. Special activities are subject to change due to weather, materials, volunteer availability and unforeseen circumstances. In the event of extreme circumstances which require cancellation, a notice will be posted on our social media pages. Last admission is 3 pm, but we recommend you give yourself a minimum of 2 hours for your visit. On-site parking is available on a first come first served basis.
