Forged in History: Introduction to Heritage Blacksmithing

Session 1: Saturday, August 22 ~ 10:00 am to 3:30 pm
Session 2: Sunday, August 23 ~ 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

Spend a day in Lang Pioneer Village’s historic Blacksmith Shop and discover the basics of traditional blacksmithing. In this hands-on introductory workshop, participants will work with heritage tools and equipment under the guidance of an experienced heritage blacksmith. You’ll learn fundamental forging techniques and create your own fire poker to take home. No prior experience is required. This unique experience offers a chance to connect with living history while learning an essential pioneer craft. Please note this course requires steel toed boots to participate. Advance registration is required.

Holiday Centrepiece Workshop

Saturday, November 14 ~ 10 am to 12 pm

Join our talented facilitator as she teaches you how to create your very own special centerpiece, just in time for the holidays! These festive centrepieces can also be used as exterior window dressings. Materials included are floral foam, greenery, pinecones and some ribbon options. Participants are encouraged to bring any extra embellishments they would like to use, including any lights or candles. Advance registration is required.
