Seasonal Positions

Lang Pioneer Village Museum offers seasonal employment from mid-May to Labour Day. Applications for summer positions are usually advertised in January and February but can be subject to change based on County of Peterborough Human Resources Department hiring requirements. Those interest in seeking employment should check the County of Peterborough’s website and this site for updated information during the first few months of each year. The available seasonal positions include historical interpreter, Museum Shop / visitor services and refreshment booth / food services. It is compulsory for seasonal staff to be flexible and have the ability to work all positions when required.

Historical Interpreter
The interpreter is required to interpret a number of different buildings and conduct demonstrations of pioneer life, domestic skills and crafts. They are responsible for the cleaning of their assigned building.

Museum Shop / Visitor Services
The Museum Shop / Visitor Services position is responsible for the daily operation of the Museum Shop including operating the retail sales and admissions cash registers, credit and debit card machine, greeting and orienting visitors, organizing guided tours, promoting sales of merchandise and assisting with the daily reconciliation of cash receipts and banking.

Refreshment Booth Food Services
The Refreshment Booth Food Services position is responsible for the daily operation of the Food Booth including running the cash register, food preparation and promoting the sales of refreshments.

Aabnaabin Camp Interpreter
Aabnaabin Camp Interpreters will be responsible for interpreting the history of local Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg, demonstrations of traditional skills and crafts, maintaining the Aabnaabin Camp site at Lang Pioneer Village Museum.
