PIONEER CORN ROAST
Sunday, September 5, 2010 ~ 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tempt your taste buds with fresh corn on the cob smothered in butter. Hop on board for a free horse-drawn wagon ride through the historic village as pioneers demonstrate their trades and daily activities. Children can participate in games on the green and learn about hawks, falcons and owls brought by the Centre for the Conservation of Specialized Species.  Special Event Admission: Adult $10, Student/Senior $9, Youth (5-14) $6 Under 5 free, Family $30 (includes 2 adults & 4 youth). AN EVENING OF IRISH HERITAGE featuring a performance of THE CORKTOWN MAN
Saturday, September 18, 2010 ~ 6:00 p.m.
Join us for a special evening of Irish Heritage featuring a performance of The Corktown Man.  The Corktown Man is a story of love between an Irish born Canadian boy and an unusually gifted local girl conveyed through lively narrative, music and song.  The doors open at 6pm with the performance beginning in the lantern-lit Glen Alda Church at 7pm.  Prior to the performance, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the aromas and tastes of Irish Heritage at the Fitzpatrick House and Keene Hotel.  Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance.  Admission:  $18 per adult or $17 per student/senior.  More information...

TRADITIONAL MUSIC WORKSHOP - Session 4

Monday, September 20 to Wednesday, September 22, 2010 
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day

This workshop focuses on traditional folk, country and blue-grass style music.  It features instructional and jam sessions with discussions in Canadian music history and is intended for beginner and intermediate players.  Instructor Allan Kirby has over 35 years of music experience and uses an interactive teaching style that is fun and rewarding for participants.  He is a guitar and banjo player who has traveled and recorded with numerous traditional music groups.  No electric amplified instruments please.  Pre-registration is required.  Workshop Fee $125 (includes GST).  For more information or to register, please contat Elizabeth King at eking@county.peterborough.on.ca.

Sunday, October 3, 2010 ~ 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tempt your taste buds with the most delicious event of the year.  Come out to Lang for a colourful fall celebration of apples and the harvest season.  Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, freshly baked apple treats and cider, as well as lots of family fun including apple crafts, sack races, musical chairs, a petting zoo and apple games.  Musical guests:  Juno-nominated recording artist Mike Ford and the Solina Road Bluegrass Band.  More information coming soon. SPOOKY HALLOWEEN
Friday & Saturday, October 15, 16 & 22, 23, 2010 ~ 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Village transforms itself into a haunted haven for ghosts and ghouls! Witches and vampires, bats and spiders, they're all coming out to give you a frightfully good time!  Dress in costume if you like and be prepared to enjoy ghastly treats, Halloween games and contests, crafts, wagon rides, a magic show by J.B. Buttons, face painting and palm reading.  This has become one of the most popular Halloween events in the region for families with young children.   Lots of fun for monsters of all ages!  More information coming soon. CHRISTMAS BY CANDLELIGHT

HISTORIC DOMINION DAY
Thursday, July 1, 2010 ~ 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
"The Irish are coming! The Irish are coming!" Celebrate Canada's 143rd birthday with fun and games for the whole family. Step back in time and learn how the threat of invasion by the "Fenian Brotherhood" spurred the creation of our country with a Fenian Reenactment featuring the 49th Regiment of Foot.  Tour the Village by free horse-drawn wagon ride.  The Old Time Fiddlers and Dancers and Family Tyes performing live. Regular Admission: Adult $8, Student/Senior $7, Youth (5-14) $4, Under 5 Free, Family $20 (includes 2 adults & 4 youth). 14TH ANNUAL ANTIQUE & CLASSIC CAR SHOW

This has become one of the largest shows in the Kawarthas with cars of every make and model from 1900 to 2010 expected to arrive. Car enthusiasts from across Ontario showcase their cars with over 50 trophies available to be won. PETERBOROUGH COUNTY FEDERATION OF AGRICULTURE CORN AND BEEF/PORK BARBEQUE

Please join us in the park at Lang Pioneer Village Museum for the 71st Annual Peterborough County Federation of Agriculture Corn & Beef/Pork Barbecue on Sunday, August 8th.  Dinner is at 12:00 noon. In case of inclement weather, there will be alternate arrangements on site. Entertainment by Curtis Stark. Please bring your own dishes, cutlery & lawn chairs. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the gate. Children 8 to 12 $5, under 8 years are free. HERITAGE CELEBRATION WEEKEND featuring the
FUR TRADE RE-ENACTMENT
Saturday & Sunday, August 14 & 15, 2010 ~ 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Step back in time and witness the daily activities of voyageurs in a fur trade encampment from centuries ago.  See an authentically reproduced 36' Montreal Birch Bark Canoe from the Canadian Canoe Museum, complete with Voyageur crew and supplies.  Visitors with a sense of adventure can climb aboard a replica cedar strip canoe and experience it for themselves.  Musical guests: Hardtack and Harmony.  More information coming soon. Special Event Admission: Adults $10, Student/Senior $9, Youth (5-14) $6, Under 5 free, Family $30 (includes 2 adults & 4 youth).
