Eductaional Programs

A wide variety of educational programs are offered that correlate to requirements outlined in the curriculum guidelines. Visiting classes enjoy a hands-on experience with live demonstrations and activities in a historic setting. For more mature audiences, the museum offers a variety of outreach programs highlighting an array of historic topics that are well-suited for interest groups. To inquire about outreach programs please contact Rosemary Davidson the Retail & Operations Co-ordinator.

The picturesque Glen Alda Church provides an intimate setting for small "country" weddings or couples who wish to renew their vows.
The rental fee includes use of the grounds as a setting for memorable wedding photos. Church groups are also welcome to book the church for Sunday services.

Two exhibit galleries are located within the Visitor Centre. The Main Gallery features exhibits that highlight early rural life in Peterborough County, while the MacKelvie Gallery provides a venue for traveling exhibits and local organizations to display their works. It can also be rented for meetings.

The Gift Shop carries an eclectic array of giftware and items handcrafted in the village including tin ware, ironware, crafts and beeswax candles. There is also a fun selection of well priced, pioneer-inspired toys for children of all ages.

A refreshment booth is located on-site which offers hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, chips, beverages and ice cream treats. The booth is open during spring school programs as well as during July and August. A picnic shelter is located nearby that can also be booked for group functions.
