Donations of Funds & Artifacts

Lang Pioneer Village Museum was established by the County of Peterborough in 1967 to celebrate and preserve the rural history of the area. Each year, the museum is the recipient of many generous donations of both money and historic artifacts. The County of Peterborough is authorized to issue tax receipts for charitable donations. The following are some guidelines to assist those wishing to make a tax deductible donation to Lang Pioneer Village Museum.

Cash Donations
Donations can be made by cash or cheque and applied to any one of the four specific purpose funds currently operated by the museum.

These are:

The Jacquard Loom Weaver's Shop Construction Fund Lang Pioneer Village Museum is currently engaged in a major project to complete the building of a weaver's shop and interpretive centre to house the museum's historic Jacquard Looms. When the project is complete, the museum will have a fully restored Jacquard loom on display, a working replica for demonstrations and educational programs and an authentic 19th century weaver's shop and an interpretive building to house both looms. Specific details of the project are outlined in the Weaver's Shop /Jacquard Loom Project page of this web site. Donations to this fund will be applied to the construction and maintenance of the interpretive building.

The Lang Grist Mill Fund
Donations to this fund are used to fund the maintenance of the museum historic grist mill, one of the last mills of its type still in operation in Ontario.

The Keene Hotel Fund Donations are used for the maintenance and repair of the museum historic 14 room hotel.

The Glen Alda Church Fund The Glen Alda Church is still used for wedding ceremonies and church services. Donations to this fund are used for the repair and maintenance of this former Methodist Church which dates back to 1899.

Donations can be made in person at Lang Pioneer Village Museum or through the mail by cheque.

Please provide us with your name and mailing address and identify which of the specific purpose funds you would like your donation applied to. A tax receipt will be issued for any donation over the amount of $100.00.
